A special thank you is extended to the following
organizations and committees for their contributions to Kerry’s Place:
Recent Grants
The Dunin Foundation
Since 2006, The Dunin Foundation has graciously supported KPAS York Region
residents. This private, family foundation has whole-heartedly helped countless
families during emergency and crisis situations as well as supported multiple
families during the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Holiday seasons. The joy and happiness
brought to the KPAS families is endless and for that, KPAS is truly grateful and
appreciative of their continued support.
The Masonic Foundation of Ontario
KPAS is proud of its relationship with the Masonic Foundation of Ontario and
extends its utmost gratitude for their support in the amount of $17,000.00 for
the KPAS Enhanced Support Program in 2009. The funds received from the Masonic
Foundation of Ontario will help individuals and families in crisis. Since the
inception of the Enhanced Support Program, the Masonic Foundation of Ontario has
contributed over $165,000.00 to this program.
The Richmond Hill Mayor’s Endowment Fund for the Arts
Mayor Barrow and his council generously provided $1,000.00 to KPAS in support of
the creation of a tile mosaic mural that is now displayed in the KPAS head
office location. The mosaic tiles were created by the people we support,
volunteers and other community members during our 35th Anniversary
Celebration Event held in July 2009. Thank you to Mayor Barrow and the Mayor’s
Endowment Fund for the Arts for their kind support.
Ronald McDonald House Charities
In 2009, RMHC funded a grant in the amount of $15,000.00 for the KPAS Resource
Centre Program. This grant enabled KPAS to purchase educational materials, such
as toys, books, games and sensory equipment for our various Resource Centres
throughout the province. The RMHC funds helped KPAS to fill the disparity
between the quantity and quality of resource materials in each of our Resource
Centres. For more information on Ronald McDonald House Charities, please visit
their website at
www.rmhc.ca.
Green Shield Canada’s Social Surplus Program
Through the generosity of Green Shield Canada’s Social Surplus Program, KPAS
received $20,000.00 in 2009 for the KPAS Web-Based ASD Resource Lending Library
Project throughout the KPAS operating regions. The project enabled KPAS to set
up each of the regions with a web-based lending library which has helped
individuals with ASD and their families to easily access resource materials
using the KPAS website. The support provided by the Social Surplus Program has
helped to enhance the quality of life of the people we support and for that we
are truly grateful. For more information on Green Shield Canada, please visit
www.greenshield.ca.
The Canadian Million Dollar Round Table Foundation
KPAS is honoured to receive a grant in the amount of $3,402.00 from the Canadian
Million Dollar Round Table Foundation for the KPAS Enhanced Support Fund in
2009. The funds will be used to help children, youth and adults with ASD and
their families during times of crisis. The Enhanced Support Fund was established
in 2003 out of emergency situations, in which KPAS identified that a small
amount of one time funding could prove the difference between keeping a family
together or having it fall apart. Many thanks to our ‘Knight’, Mr. Tony Pereira
for his ongoing support of Kerry’s Place Autism Services.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation
In 2007, the Ontario Trillium Foundation generously provided funding to KPAS,
over 3 years, in support of building volunteer capacity within our Central East
region in the amount of $103,800.00. Since the start of this grant, our Central
East region has seen a tremendous growth in the number of volunteers since the
start of the grant initiative. The 3 year grant will end in early 2011.
Past Grants
The Carolyn Sifton Foundation
In 2008, KPAS was the proud recipient of a grant in the amount of $30,000.00 for
the KPAS/Griffin Children and Youth with an ASD Program. In conjunction with the
Griffin Centre, this program bridged the gap in providing crisis support to
at-risk children but it also encouraged the sharing of information, strategies
and ASD resources that helped to build community capacity and individual
success. We thank the Carolyn Sifton Foundation for their generous support and
congratulate them on the success of the program.
The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism
With a contribution of $10,000.00 for the Enhanced Support Program in 2008, the
Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism made a remarkable impact on the lives of
people with ASD in Toronto, Ontario. The funds were used for crisis intervention
and prevention, consultations, outreach and educational programs and seed funds
and helped over 85 individuals with an ASD and their families. KPAS extends its
utmost gratitude to the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism for their
generosity and leadership in supporting people with an ASD.
