About the Role:
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for a specific region for strategic development of and management of human resources functions including regional planning, employee and labour relations, employee performance management and development, recruitment and selection, human resources management systems applications, compensation and benefits, retirement and pensions, occupational health and safety, policies and procedures, HR program evaluation to improve the overall effectiveness of the agency. The Human Resources Manager works collaboratively with the Director of Services and Supports and Managers of Services and Supports to assist the region in providing support to achieve individual, regional and organizational goals, ensuring that best practices in human resources management support goal achievement. The Human Resources Manager ensures that Kerry’s Place region is aware of legislation and regulations and provides advice on how to meet these requirements in their provision of services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Through actions, supports the Mission, Vision, Values, Principles and Policies and Procedures of Kerry’s Place
- Ensures that work/life balance and health and safety principles are effectively applied through all areas of responsibility
- Works with Directors, Managers and other HR colleagues to continuously monitor, problem solve and improve the effectiveness of human resources functions within the region and the entire organization
- Attends Regional management meetings as required/appropriate
- Develops and maintains positive mentoring and advisory relationships with Kerry’s Place Managers as determined through consultation
- Develop and implement procedures to ensure that employees are informed of Human Resources’ policies, procedures, and total compensation information
- Travels to Region to be present on a regular basis and as required
- Manages one or more human resource components/functions for the organization
- Ensures accuracy, completion and timely follow-up of documentation required by legislation and policy and procedures
- Ensures appropriate confidentiality is maintained for individuals and employees.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with all relevant partners/stakeholders including partner agencies, legal advisors, government employees, Union and community contacts.
- Oversees effective orientation programs for new employees
- Oversees employee relations to maximize employee satisfaction
- Interpret (as required by the regional position) union-management agreements and represent management in the negotiation and settlement of grievances
- Develops and conducts management and employee training sessions on topics related to areas of responsibility
- Attends HR department meetings as required
- Acts as chair and co-chair of committees related to areas of responsibility
- Provides follow-up to ensure that action plans are implemented
- Maintains employee documentation and records
- Adheres to manager responsibilities for Health and Safety as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Education Qualifications:
- CHRP designation or equivalent is preferred
- Completion of University Degree or community college diploma (3) years in Human Resources or other relevant degree
- Completion of equivalent training or education complemented by appropriate human resources experience
Knowledge and Experience Requirements:
- Five years of experience in Human Resources, preferably with experience in a generalist role
- Experience in a management role is preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- A valid Driver’s License, with a minimum G2 and access to a reliable vehicle for frequent business travel is required
