Getting Ready for Groups

Learn the fundamental skills needed to participate in group settings successfully.

This group program is for Autistic children and teens ages 3-17 who want to develop their group readiness skills. Participants will learn the fundamental skills they need to be in group settings, and each will develop their skills based on their individual needs and interests.

Topics covered in the curriculum include:

  • Transitioning away from caregivers
  • Understanding visual schedules
  • Following individual and group instructions
  • Sharing, waiting and taking turns
  • Interacting with peers
  • Transitioning between activities and spaces
  • Tolerating others in close proximity.

This group program is overseen by a Registered Behaviour Analyst and is an eligible expense under Core Clinical Services within the Ontario Autism Program (OAP).

Important Note: By registering for this group on MyCommunityHub (MCH), you secure your spot in the free sample session and will be charged later for the cost of the group session. Sample sessions are required for all groups and help us determine the best match for each participant based on the recommended support ratio and if the program curriculum fits their needs.

Registering with our Intake Team is the first step to receiving services from Kerry’s Place.
