Unheard Voices: A Narrative Inquiry Into the Experiences of Inclusion of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Secondary Students with ASD

Looking for culturally and linguistically diverse students in Canada who are on the Autism Spectrum (aged 16-25) to participate in a study on inclusion experiences in secondary school communities. In the context of this study, culturally and linguistically diverse is defined as “individuals who do not belong to mainstream culture because of their identity with a minority race, ethnicity or linguistic group (Burke & Goldman, 2018, p. 4).

  • As a participant in this study, you will be asked to join an initial 45-60 minute interview, a 1-2 week photovoice activity (i.e., taking photos of things that represent inclusion to you in your schools/communities), and a 30-35 minute follow up interview to discuss the photovoice activity.
  • All interviews will take place online over Zoom/Microsoft Teams.
  • You must have a caregiver who is also willing to participate in the study.
  • Caregivers will be asked to join a 45-60 minute interview to share their perspectives on the inclusion experiences of their child.
