Presented Annually by the Board of Directors to a Direct Support Employee in Supported Living
The Kerry’s Place Board of Directors established the Robert Hart Award in honour of Robert (Bob) Hart, a founding family member, in recognition of his 50 years of dedicated service to the Board. The inaugural Robert Hart Award was announced at the 2024 Kerry’s Place Annual General Meeting.
Application deadline: April 6, 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.

Award Criteria and Attributes:
The Robert Hart Award recognizes a direct support employee who has accomplished and demonstrated a specific set of criteria and attributes:
- Serves as a full-time associate in supported living for at least (3) three years
- Maintaines a consistent approach in following the Support Plan for the individual(s)
- Demonstrates a consistent, caring, and supportive attitude towards our supported individuals
- Achieves excellent annual performance appraisals
- Has created one idea that improved the overall management of the home or the support plan for the individual(s)
- Consistently demonstrates strong teamwork skills, actively fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment within the team
- Communicates proactively and effectively with families in a timely manner, ensuring collaboration, mutual respect, and continuity of care for the individual(s)
Selection Process:
- Employees and Families will have a role in the nomination process.
- Submissions will be reviewed by the Robert Hart Award Selections Committee, which includes staff members from Supported Living, Human Resources, and Clinical as well as an external member (e.g. Family Members).
- Eligible nominations will be evaluated based on how clearly and thoroughly the responses provided align with the award’s criteria and attributes.
- Final selections will be made based on scoring and discussion. In the case of a tie, the Chair of the Board Nominations and Governance Committee will make the final decision.
- The successful nominee and nominator will be notified in early June.
Presenting gift:
- The award presentation will take place at the Annual General Meeting. The successful recipient will be invited to the Annual General Meeting and, if attending, will be presented with a plaque, a certificate and letter of congratulations signed by the Board of Directors.
- The successful recipient will be invited to select a gift worth up to $200 from the Rembrandt Awards Gift Catalogue.
- The successful recipient will be featured in the AGM follow-up Welcome Home newsletter.
