Kerry’s Place is guided by the values of Respect, Choice, Integrity, Collaboration, and Excellence. Each year, we recognize these values in action through annual awards that honor outstanding individuals and organizations. These recipients demonstrate dedication, excellence, and inclusive practices that contribute to our vision where Autistic persons are full and equal members of their communities. Through these awards, we celebrate achievements that inspire progress, leadership, and positive change across our community.

Community Recognition Award

The Kerry’s Place Community Recognition Award recognizes individuals, organizations, and partners who make outstanding contributions to enhancing the quality of life, inclusion, and opportunities for autistic individuals in our communities. This award reflects our commitment to recognizing those who champion the values we uphold every day.

About the Award

The Community Recognition Award celebrates nominees whose efforts embody our core values:

  • Respect – Celebrating diversity, supporting inclusion, and advancing dignity for all.
  • Choice – Empowering autistic individuals through opportunities and informed decision-making.
  • Integrity – Acting ethically, truthfully, and with accountability in all initiatives.
  • Collaboration – Engaging in person-centered care and partnerships that value diverse perspectives.
  • Excellence – Pursuing continuous learning, innovation, and quality improvement to support the ASD community.

     

Award Timeline

  • January: Call for nominations opens
  • April: Nomination period closes
  • May: Review and selection by the evaluation committee
  • June: Award presented at the Kerry’s Place Annual General Meeting
 

Nomination Process

  • Eligibility: Community partners, organizations, and individuals within regions supported by Kerry’s Place
  • Who Can Nominate: Any Kerry’s Place employee or Advisory Committee member

Robert Hart Award

The Kerry’s Place Board of Directors established the Robert Hart Award in honour of Robert (Bob) Hart, a founding family member, in recognition of his 50 years of dedicated service to the Board. The inaugural Robert Hart Award was announced at the 2024 Kerry’s Place Annual General Meeting.

The Robert Hart Award recognizes a direct support employee who has accomplished and demonstrated a specific set of criteria and attributes:

  • Served as a full-time associate in supported living for at least (3) three years
  • Maintained a consistent approach in following the Support Plan for the individual(s)
  • Demonstrates a consistent caring, supportive attitude towards our supportive individuals
  • Demonstrates a positive, helpful attitude with their colleagues
  • Achieves excellent annual performance appraisals
  • Created one idea that improved the overall management of the home or the support plan for the individual(s)
  • Consistently demonstrates strong teamwork skills, actively fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment within the team
