Elected to the Kerry’s Place Board of Directors in February 2018, Jan served as Chair of the Board from 2022 to 2026. Jan is a highly regarded mental health and neurodiversity governance expert and advocate. Highlights have included serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and chairing the Governance Committee at LIGHTS, a partnership with Community Living Toronto that enables new housing opportunities for the intellectually disabled. She also sat on the Advisory Council at ACCESS Open Minds and the Parent Advisory Council at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Department of Neuropsychopharmacology. 

Jan wrote the award-winning book Hold on Tight about her journey raising two children with multiple mental health and neurodevelopmental challenges, including autism, to help ease the journey for other families. She regularly writes for magazines including Autism Parenting Magazine, Autism Advocate Parenting Magazine, Exceptional Needs Today and Today’s Parent, and is a sought-after speaker.
