International Transgender Day of Visibility 2026

March 31st is an annual observance of Transgender Day of Visibility, a day to raise awareness about transgender people.  International TDoV was created in 2010 by trans advocate Rachel Crandall, the head of Transgender Michigan. The date was created in response to the overwhelming majority of media stories about transgender people being focused on violence committed against them. She hoped to create a day where people could celebrate the lives of transgender people, while also acknowledging that, due to discrimination, not every trans person can or wants to be visible.

We can celebrate this day by educating ourselves and others and we can help by creating the understanding that transgender issues are crucial in building an inclusive society. By reading books, watching documentaries and following trans activists on social media we can all broaden our knowledge and help in educating others. Together, we can create a more inclusive society where we acknowledge the simple truth that trans rights are human rights.
