From Call to Care: Responding to Emergencies Involving Autistic Persons is geared towards first responders (e.g., police, firefighters, paramedics) and those involved in community safety who want to learn more about Autism.

Understanding the characteristics of Autism and safety risks experienced by Autistic people will allow first responder professionals to more effectively use the skills they already have to enhance interactions with Autistic members of their communities and promote best outcomes for all persons involved.

  • Describe Autism and safety risks for Autistic individuals
  • Identify potential indicators of Autism in persons they may encounter while on the job
  • Apply evidence-based strategies to supporting Autistic individuals in emergency situations
