Trans Day of Visibility – March 31st

March 31 is internationally recognized as Trans Day of Visibility (TDoV).

TDoV was created by activist Rachel Crandall in 2009 upon their realization that a day to celebrate trans joy and accomplishments was needed to contrast the ongoing tragedies the community was enduring. On this day, we look to celebrate 2 Spirit, trans, and non-binary people and their contributions to the community.

Throughout Canada’s history, members of the trans community have led the way with wisdom, joy, excellence, and resilience. TDoV also provides us with an opportunity to re-commit to protecting trans futures through more visible and actionable allyship. Now more than ever, we need to be intentional about how we support and celebrate 2 Spirit, trans and non-binary people so that we can continue to celebrate many more trans futures to come.
